I don't think the IRL can afford this bickering among drivers...and driver's fathers. The IRL is not NASCAR. It doesnt have the draw, the revenue or the TV ratings. I think this kind of fighting upsets the sponsors. Yes to some degree this is racing but at the same time it's image. If I were a sponsor and my driver was getting into fist fights, I'd have a problem. Sponsors, Racers, Fans. Remove or blemish any of the 2 and you have a struggling business.

The biggest offender...
Just to give more clarity on the issue, one of the guys involved you see getting tackled after having an altercation with Sam Hornish's dad is this guy from Andretti's squad:

Let 'em talk it out...
Let the drivers talk out their issues... Just keep the soccer Dads and Moms out of the pitts. Looked like the goings on at a trunk slammer go-kart race!!

dont compare
I dont know why there must be a comparison between NASCAR and IRL. Some say it takes courage to race IRL and not NASCAR. Hey all of these guys, (and gals) are pretty brave just to race at 200mph 2 ft apart. You like IRL, I like NASCAR. Leave it at that. They both have human emotions that erupt from time to time. Thats racin!

NASCAR v. IRL
i keep seeing you guys make comments about "napcar". i think it's kind of funny. Compare the excitement saturday night to the excitement sunday. Daytona was one of the most exciting finishes ever, and i saw a grand total of 5 passes all day in the indycar race... and you guys are calling it "NAPCAR?" i love all kinds of racing, but the indycar race was more of a nap then the nascar race by far

It was Danica!
I swear I saw Danica speed up like lightning, push Sam into Tony, then resumed her position.. all in one millisecond frame. I think she did it to give all of you something else to focus on.
Go Danica... you da Girl!

Go TK
I watched the race Sunday as I do most IRL races and being a fan of Both Sammy and Tk clearly Sammy was working hard on the road course which is not his strength. but his lack of experiance on these courses clearly showed. he was cutting TK off and when his daddy stepped in on 2 men taking care of the situation they way men should he was way out of line.
botton line Indy Car from pure speed and racing stand point is heads and shoulders above Nasscar and if Sammy really needs to slow down in life then make the move.
I love to take a nap during the many long cautions during a Nasscar race
just give us Tony Stewart back!!!!!

Now That's Entertainment!
Finally, IRL develops a personality, gets some color and delivers some real entertainment! Arnett Howard's comments about it all being a show put on for the benefit of ABC is "Hilarious!" Maybe it can be turned into a weekly sitcom.
According to the ESPN/ABC announcers, it was Danica's father that jumped into the middle of the fight. Supposedly, he's the guy that the security guards took to the ground.
In the "good old days" of racing, at our local track the saying was, "10 Laps of Racing followed by 10 Rounds of Boxing!"
PASSION!!! Don't you just "love it?"
