Davey Hamilton will again join Vision Racing to compete in the Indianapolis 500.
Hamilton will drive the No. 22 The Computer is Personal Again/HP Honda-powered Dallara. Last year, he returned to Indianapolis after a six-year hiatus and finished ninth.
"You know, I love this place," Hamilton said. "It's hard to, as a racing driver, get this particular race out of your system. There's a handful of races I love. This is one of them, the Oswego Classic, which I participated in last year and I'll do again, the Copper Classic, which unfortunately is no longer there, they always just stood out as the thrills of my career and I love to do.
"I'm just fortunate that Hewlett-Packard and Kingdom (Racing) came aboard to allow me to negotiate with Tony (George) to put together a third entry for Vision Racing. It was down to the last minute, it has worked out, we'll be in the car tomorrow, and the car looks fantastic. I feel really confident because I think we have a better program, and Vision has a better program, than last year so hopefully we pick up where we left off and try to make it better."
In 49 IndyCar Series starts, Hamilton has 13 top-5 and 23 top-10 finishes. He has twice been the runner-up in the IndyCar Series points championship.
In seven appearances at Indianapolis, Hamilton has a career-best start of eighth (1997 and '98) and a best finish of fourth in 1998.
Hamilton will team up with Ed Carpenter (No. 20) and A.J. Foyt (No. 2) again.
"The speed and determination that Ed and A.J. have shown on the ovals this season, combined with the return of Davey, has Vision Racing well prepared to enjoy the team's most successful campaign at Indianapolis," team co-owner Tony George said. "This will be the fourth straight year that we have expanded our operation for the Month of May and I am excited for the opportunities that our growth will provide us."
