The inaugural 500 Festival Volunteer Fair, hosted by Pacers Sports & Entertainment, will take place from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, as the non-profit organization is looking for volunteers to help produce a variety of community events and programs that celebrate the Indianapolis 500.
Volunteers play a critical role in producing a month-long series of events of the 500 Festival. Attendees will learn about volunteer opportunities available for individuals or groups in more than 100 different areas, including the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and the IPL 500 Festival Parade.
Attendees can get great giveaways, receive free drinks and food and register to win tickets to 500 Festival events and Indianapolis 500 practice and qualification days.
The 500 Festival Volunteer Program is a great team-building experience for groups of all sizes. By volunteering together, companies, groups and families benefit by giving back to the community and experiencing a 53-year tradition in Indianapolis. The 500 Festival works with groups of all sizes to find the event and area that best meets their needs.
"Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization," said Joelle Baugher, program manager, 500 Festival. "We are very fortunate and grateful that each year 7,000 volunteers contribute their time to our events and programs, and they are the reason why the 500 Festival is one of the largest and most successful festivals in the nation."
The registration system for the 2010 Volunteer Program will open in January. Those who sign up to volunteer before 5 p.m. April 12, 2010 will receive an exclusive invitation to Volunteer Appreciation Day on Saturday, May 15 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Volunteers also receive a 500 Festival volunteer T-shirt, an official 500 Festival event credential, a Volunteer Program Pin, complimentary snacks, refreshments, parking and guaranteed fun!
