Danica Featured On Cover Of TV Guide

Danica Patrick is coming to a checkout line near you.

2005 Indianapolis 500 JPMorgan Chase Rookie of the Year Patrick and her rise to prominence this season in the IRL IndyCar Series are detailed in an "exclusive interview" in the July 31-Aug. 6 issue of TV Guide magazine, just in time for ABC's broadcast of the Firestone Indy 400 at 3 p.m. (EDT) July 31 from Michigan International Speedway.

In part of the country, Patrick is standing next to a race car on the main cover image. In the alternate cover, a photo of her is in the upper right corner with the stars of "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" the main photo.

The story about Patrick's success and mainstream media attention, by auto racing writer Robert Edelstein, features extensive comments from Patrick and also complimentary remarks from "NBC Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams, a longtime auto racing fan.

Patrick finished fourth in the 89th Indianapolis 500 on May 29 after leading with less than 10 laps remaining in the No. 16 Rahal Letterman Racing Argent Pioneer Panoz/Honda/Firestone. She also won the pole earlier this month at Kansas and is 11th in the IndyCar Series point standings, just 41 points out of sixth place.

This isn't the only major magazine cover this year for Patrick. She was featured on the cover of the June 6 issue of Sports Illustrated, becoming the first Indianapolis 500 driver to be the main SI cover photo subject since A.J. Foyt in the pre-race story in the May 25, 1981 issue.

Patrick also was photographed last weekend at the Milwaukee Mile for an upcoming issue of LIFE magazine.
