Dixon Wins IndyCar Series Season Opener At Homestead-Miami

2003 IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon won the season-opening Gainsco Auto Insurance Indy 300 on Saturday night at Homestead-Miami Speedway, holding off 2006 Indianapolis 500 Chase Rookie of the Year Marco Andretti on a late restart. 2005 Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon finished third in the first event for the unified series.
