 Indianapolis 500 Veteran Mauro Dies In Auto Accident
John B. Mauro, who drove in the 1948 Indianapolis 500-Mile Race, entered in five others and later drove classic passenger cars from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum in the 500 Festival Parade, was killed in an automobile accident Jan. 23 in the Denver area. He was 91.Mauro, a resident of Lakewood, Colo., first came to the Speedway in 1947, took part of his rookie test but did not qualify for the race.
